A Love for Learning (2.5 – 6 years)

Between two and a half and six years old, children absorb everything around them (language, movement, relationships, how the world works) and want to do things for themselves. Our Primary classroom supports that drive, helping children build independence, focus, and self-discipline through work they choose.

A Love for Learning (2.5 – 6 years)

Between two and a half and six years old, children absorb everything around them (language, movement, relationships, how the world works) and want to do things for themselves. Our Primary classroom supports that drive, helping children build independence, focus, and self-discipline through work they choose.

Each classroom is a carefully prepared environment, with child-sized furniture, open shelves, and hands-on materials children choose for themselves. Our guides observe each child closely and introduce new lessons when the child is ready, so children learn at their own pace and build confidence along with skills. Mixed-age classrooms are part of what makes Primary special. Younger children learn by watching older classmates, while older children grow as leaders and reinforce their own learning by teaching others.

Outdoor Learning Spaces

Every Primary classroom opens onto its own outdoor learning space, which extends the prepared environment outside. Children garden, move their bodies, observe nature and bring their work into the fresh air throughout the day.

Co-Curriculars

Primary students enjoy a full program of co-curricular classes each week, taught by specialists who bring energy and expertise to every lesson.

  • Music (twice a week): Children sing, move, explore rhythm, and play simple instruments, building listening skills and a lifelong love of music.

  • Spanish (twice a week): Through songs, stories, and play, children absorb a second language naturally during the years they're most open to it.

  • Gymnastics (weekly): Children build strength, balance, coordination, and the confidence that comes from mastering new movements.

  • Physical Education (twice a week for Kindergarten): Kindergartners develop gross motor skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship through games and active play. Every Primary classroom is built around six connected areas of the Montessori curriculum.
