At Casa di Mir, PE is a safe, positive, and welcoming space for every child. Through engaging, meaningful games and activities, students develop physical skills, build strength and coordination, and grow in confidence, all while having fun. In keeping with Montessori values, students practice at their own pace, take on new challenges independently, and reflect on what theyโve learned. Just as importantly, PE builds life skills like decision-making, perseverance, sportsmanship, and empathy that serve children well beyond the gym.
Our PE program is guided by these goals:
Respect: Respect is the foundation of every PE class: respect for oneself, for classmates, and for the rules of the game. Students learn to care for their bodies, try their best, and recognize their own growth. They treat teammates and opponents with kindness and fairness, and they take care of the equipment and spaces we share. When a student is tagged out or a call doesnโt go their way, they learn to accept it gracefully and get back in the game. These moments of good sportsmanship build character and self-control that carry over into every part of life.
Collaboration: Many of our games depend on working together. Students learn to communicate clearly, encourage one another, share responsibilities, and plan strategies as a team. They discover that every player has something to contribute and that the group succeeds when everyone is included. After a game, students reflect on what worked, what didnโt, and how they might approach it differently next time. These experiences help children grow into thoughtful teammates who listen, support, and lead with empathy.
A Positive & Inviting Experience: We want every child to feel welcome and excited to move. Our lessons are designed so that students of all abilities can participate, succeed, and stretch themselves. Students practice skills independently and at their own pace, celebrate progress over perfection, and learn that challenges are opportunities to grow. By keeping PE joyful and encouraging, we help children build a lasting, healthy relationship with physical activity, along with the confidence to try new things and the resilience to overcome obstacles.
